Friday Favorites and Super Sweet Chobani Greek Yogurt Giveaway!


Good morning all my Healthy Chicks out there and Happy Friday! Since it’s Friday, I figured I’d share a few of my favorite things of the week with y’all, ’cause trust me: every week there’s something new I begin to love. Here’s this week’s roundup:

1. The Treadmill: I know, I know. Trust me, I never thought I’d say it either. But ever since I’ve been training for my half marathon – and forcing myself to run on the treadmill due to all the blizzards here in Boston – it’s grown on me. Once I hit my first five mile run EVER on that stupid little machine, I began to have a newfound love for it. All I can say is THANK GOODNESS, ’cause it doesn’t seem like the snow is-a-stoppin’ anytime soon.

2. GO FISH: I’ve been working really hard this week to add more fish into my diet. I love fish so darn much, but it tends to get neglected. The other night I made baked salmon marinated in OJ, tequila, lime juice and habanero sauce with The Boy, and tonight we’re thinking of making almond-crusted tilapia. I’ll keep ya updated on how it goes!

3. Love: Love is all around, and I feel like a big pile of love lately. I’m just super happy is all, which is a good thing. That’s why my roommate’s and I are trying something new tonight – we’re attending the Project Cupid Date Auction, a charity date auction to raise money for leukemia, specifically for Acute Myeloid Leukemia for Dana Farber Institute.

4. A Berry-licious Dessert: Lately I’ve been weening off my late-night dark chocolate binge, and replacing it with a lighter option: fresh berries and greek yogurt. Sometimes I add a touch of almonds and some cinnamon as well. This was my go-to dessert all summer, but I’m proud to say it’s back again. All this hard training ‘n’ sweating has me craving something refreshing after dinner!

Speaking of greek yogurt…here comes the exciting part! I’m proud to announce today’s super sweet giveaway on Healthy Chicks.     I LOVE CHOBANI! Chobani has legit actually become a recent obsession of mine and it is always in the fridge. I love eating it as a snack and I bring it to work basically every day. ANY flavor with granola and blueberries has become my go to. The plain is so delicious too with granola and honey.

    I’ve been dying to try the mango and pomegranate flavors – hopefully they’ll be at my grocery soon.

    I love chobani yogurts because they’re filling and have protein and calcium. I also love how decadent they taste – you wouldn’t know they’re good for you unless you looked at the nutritional information.

    Chobani is the best tasting 0% fat greek yogurt out there! Only 2 stores in town carry it, and they carry only a few of the different flavors. My new fav is the 2% pineapple, but I would love to get my hands on the lemon.

    it’s so hard for me to go a breakfast or lunch or midnight snack without chobani. It is filling, packed with protein and fruit, and delicious!! Plus it doesn’t have any additives like pectin or corn starch to make it thick, it is properly strained and well worth the cost.

    I really want to try the new flavors, especially the mango! i have a limited amount of flavors where i live, i keep telling my family that i’m going to go to florida this summer just to get some more flavors!

    I have recently gone on a diet to improve my health and shed some pounds before spring break. It definitely has not been easy since I am trying to go from “JUNK FOOD ADDICT” to “HEALTHY CHICK ;)”. I tried Chobani for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVED IT!! Nothing is better when you are on a diet then finding something great tasting and good for you!! I eat Chobani multiple times a week now and am guilt free πŸ™‚

    I loveee Chobani yogurt- I eat it everyday for breakfast-
    but I like the plain kind- I add my own sweetener so the yogurt remains sugar free! I like to add my own fruit, nuts and cinnamon to the mix as well.
    I have relied on this breakfast for the past year!

    I love Chobani! It’s my favorite brand of Greek yogurt.

    0% Plain is best because I can add in whatever crazy ingredients I want to keep my breakfasts and snacks interesting yet healthy.

    My best mix so far has been 0% plain Chobani with cocoa powder, cinnamon, ground flax seed, half a small banana, and a few pieces of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal crushed up inside. Amazing and so filling!

    Becky (beckabes)got me hooked on ur tweets/blog, ps I’m vicariously living through your training since we are doing a 10 mile race in July and the tredmil and I have not been bff’s! And your recipes that I’ve tried, I’m even trying to get my bf to try to cook with me more too!

    But Chobani is awesome. I like pineapple and I think it’s because it reminds me of summer, such a great fruit in the summer (a good drink or plain!). But I do use Vanilla a lot too, I tried using it as a Mayo replacement in a chicken salad. Bethenny from Real Housewives suggested plain but I only had vanilla…gave it a shot and it was just the right bit of sweet! Try it sometime (or even plain)!

    Aw welcome to my blog Kate! I love Becky and I’m glad she sent you over here : ) So exciting we’re both training for long-distance races…we can motivate each other. I’ll be doing a post on running tunes soon!

    Also, I too like adding greek yogurt as a replacement for mayo/sour cream/etc. I’ve put it on salmon with lemon & dill (in place of mayo) and have even made dips with it; it’s just so versatile!
