Good afternoon, friends! Hope you are all having an amazing week so far. This week has been one of those fascinating, life-changing weeks for me, you know the kind. For one, I’ve landed the part-time job of my dream, assisting with marketing and community relationships at sweetgreen in Boston. If you haven’t heard of them, I urge you to check out their website, including their zesty menu! I totally have my eye on the January salad.
They are expanding to the city in early summer, and I’m going to help spread the word and make their launch as successful as possible. sweetgreen currently has locations in PA, MD, VA and NY and will soon be coming to my city aka Boston (which is your city for many of you) in June.
While their company is essentially a healthy, eco-friendly restaurant (for example, their proteins are hormone & antibiotic free and their packaging is 100% plant based), they are much more than that and take great pride in their mission in spreading the sweet life. I couldn’t be more thrilled to a part of their company, especially when their mission is something I so firmly believe in.
Healthy Chicks in the Community
Exciting news! I am pleased to announce the latest initiative on Healthy Chicks, that is Healthy Chicks in the Community. Every Thursday, I will spotlight someone in the community who embodies what it means to be a “Healthy Chick.”
As you know, to me healthy does not mean skinny, perfect or rigid. It’s a lifestyle, and we all have our own way of shining, and bringing our inner Healthy Chick out.
Spotlights will include moms who work hard to feed their kids with nutritious meals, fitness rock stars who know how to sweat (and have fun!) and any woman who is making a difference or has a message to share.
Since it’s the first week, I figured I’d go first and then let you lovely, fabulous ladies take it from here!
NAME/AGE: Rachel Chemerynski, 25
BLOG/TWITTER (If Applicable): Well, you’re already on my blog but you can follow me on twitter here!
CURRENT CITY: Boston, MA
PHOTO TAKEN: Being a goofball & playing in the snow in Waterville Valley, NH!
WHAT YOU DO FOR WORK: I’m a busy entreprenuar and work as a freelance writer, Certified Health Coach, and Founder of Health Chicks. As you read above, I’m also now going to be doing some marketing work for the wonderful company sweetgreen. Yes, I wear many colorful hats and I love it.
NUMBER ONE PASSION: This is a tough one, as I have three. I’d have to say writing, creating things (stay tuned for my newest project which I’m super pumped to announce) and helping other women live healthy, happy diet-free lifestyles.
I FEEL MY HEALTHIEST SELF WHEN I AM: happy with my body, exercising, and fueling myself with foods that make me thrive (lots of greens, whole grains, fruits, eggs, nuts, seeds and lean organic meats)!
BUT I AM ALSO A REAL GIRL & SOMETIMES: skip the gym to catch up on sleep or overindulge in sushi. I’m OK with it.
TOP THREE KITCHEN STAPLES: Garlic, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Something Green
NUMBER ONE GUILTY PLEASURE: Cheese & crackers, dark chocolate and red wine
EXERCISE THAT MAKES YOU SHINE: Running! It’s freeing and challenging at the same time, and allows me to be alone with my thoughts. This year, I will be running my fourth half marathon. I’m also obsessed with yoga lately, to calm my mind and ease any forms of self-doubt or stress. I’ll really try anything at least once, and have dabbled in Zumba, Spinning, Swimming (swam in high school), Step, Bootcamp, and Pilates (not for me). I used to take a lot of Core Fusion at Exhale Spa, but lately am sticking to the DVDs, and also enjoy hiking and skiing during the winter by my family’s condo in NH.
FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD: Homemade Chicken Parmesan and Fettuccine Alfredo, at the same time. Hands down. But it has to be homemade. I ask for it every birthday, and enjoy every bite of it without feeling guilty.
MESSAGE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH OTHER HEALTHY CHICKS: Be true to who you are, use your passions to your advantage and strive to let go of the little things and enjoy life in the moment!
