Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Feature: Erin Madore of Grounded Warrior

Good morning beauties, and happy Friday! I am thrilled to introduce you to this week’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar girl bosses doing their thang in the wellness world.

Erin, Founder & CEO of Grounded Warrior, literally oozes passion and confidence, and her bubbly personality shines through even never have met her before IRL. She’s super passionate about fitness and wellness, and truly loves motivating others to feel their very best through exercise — and have fun doing it too!

Go ahead, meet this curly-haired rockstar for yourself and try not to be inspired. (I dare you!) Be sure to read through the end as Erin is offering a very generous promo code for the Healthy Chicks tribe.

NAME: Erin Madore

DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS/LINE OF WORK: I am passionate about empowering women to prioritize their health, wellness and happiness. The fact is we’re all busy which means it’s even more important to take care of ourselves so we can be our best at home, in the workplace and everywhere in between!

Specifically, I started Grounded Warrior and through the site I offer all the fitness workouts you need each week online including Total Body Conditioning, Strength Training, Cardio and Yoga! As a Certified Personal Trainer, Registered Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master and Spin Instructor, I have a diverse background and love providing workouts that will help women feel balanced, strong and healthy all day long.

I am also opening Savin Hill Fitness Studio this fall in my neighborhood (Dorchester, MA), which is very exciting as I love helping people online and in person!

WHERE YOU LIVE: I live in Boston, MA — specifically, Savin Hill in Dorchester which is 2 miles south of downtown Boston and a wonderful place to live!

HOW YOU SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH YOUR WORK: First and foremost, I love providing free fitness classes throughout Dorchester and Boston to help everyone have access to group exercise! I teach Bootcamp at Norman B. Leventhal Park in the city and I get such a wonderful variety of students it creates an exhilarating atmosphere that inspires me to bring my A game! This summer I am also going to offering free classes throughout Dorchester to help our community connect with different types of exercise like: yoga, bootcamp, kick boxing and more.

I believe that healthy and mindful people help create healthy and mindful communities which is very important!

NUMBER ONE PASSION OUTSIDE THE JOB: Oh this is hard because I LOVE exercising but that is kinda my job…I would say reading and exploring! I could probably spend an entire weekend reading in bed and I also love exploring Boston, New England, and Europe with my husband. Both of my passions help me ground myself and inspire me in different ways.

INTENTIONS/GOALS YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS: Wow this is a good one. In the next 3 years I would like to have a strong Grounded Warrior community with over 1,000 members, and I would like to have Savin Hill Fitness Studio be so successful that we are planning on opening another boutique fitness studio in Dorchester. To help me succeed in both areas, I have intentions of staying grounded and focused and to continue to believe in myself and trust the universe.

Other more personal goals are to move into a larger home that really feels like a home, travel each and every year (hopefully another trip to France next year), and continue to make (quality) time for my husband, family and friends. Always finding the JOY in the JOurneY!

Since I turned 33 this February, my intentions in general have been to be my badass self and believe in magic. It has felt good this year and I can imagine embracing the same mindset as I continue to grow and learn over the next 3 years!

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D TELL YOUR CHILDHOOD SELF: Lighten up, breathe deeper and have fun! Life isn’t all about being serious and successful – life is about living! It’s taken me about 27 years to get this – thankfully the last 6 years (27 – 33) have been a lot more fun as a result!

FOODS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ALIVE & BRING THE MOST JOY: I am currently in love with big bowls of Fage Yogurt and berries with a spoonful of peanut butter for lunch! And I find ending the night with a cup of Yogi Throat Tea to be soothing and relaxing.

SONGS THAT MOVES YOU: My favorite songs to get me moving are Don’t Kill My Vibe by Sigrid, Uptown Funk of course, Good Morning by Max Frost and Glorious by Mackelmore & Skylar Grey

THREE FAB THINGS ABOUT YOU:
1. I love boxing and have boxing in my blood – both my grandfather and great-grandfather were boxers!
2. My hair is pretty fabulous! It’s big, curly and dirty blond and definitely helps make me memorable.
3. I used to hide my sexiness but I have been trying to feel more comfortable being sexy and sassy me! And reminding myself that being sexy isn’t a bad thing!

FAVORITE BODY PART & WHY: I love my arms because they are covered in almost all of my tattoos and each tattoo represents a milestone in my life and in my being.

I GET MY INSPIRATION FROM: Books! Podcasts! TedTalks! Most of the time I am listening to an inspiring book via Audible, my favorites so far being You are a BadAss by Jen Sincero, Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes, Yes Please by Amy Poehler and Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.

EXERCISE THAT MAKES YOU SHINE: Burpees!! I love burpees! They are so much fun and work your whole body! Plus for being only 5 feet 2 inches I can jump pretty high if I do say so myself.

SOMETHING IN YOUR “WELLNESS TOOLBOX” YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: Really good sneakers. I am not a Fitness Professional obsessed with certain tools or equipment instead I like to keep things relatively simple and uncomplicated. That does NOT mean my workout videos aren’t going to make you work – they are certainly challenging for all levels – but my philosophy is that we all have a body and that is the best piece of equipment we need!

So we do a lot of bodyweight exercises where all you need is yourself and a great pair of sneakers to protect and support your movements. Personally I like to wear Asics and Nike, but I always encourage others to go to a specialty fitness store to have their feet analyzed so they can get the sneakers that are right for them.

Also, I will say that I LOVE my Jaybird Running Earbuds – they were a birthday gift from my hubby and can’t imagine running without them!

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Something I am still working on… but my greatest accomplishment has been learning to believe in myself, and learning to trust myself and the universe. This lesson also includes leaving a full-time job in Corporate HR 5 years ago to create a career that would actually make me happy and allow me to truly provide for others the best I could. And creating Grounded Warrior! over a year ago – starting from scratch with an online fitness company and slowly growing a robust and dedicated community of busy women that are committed to working out and feeling their best.

FEMALE LEADER(S) YOU LOOK UP TO: Abigail Adams (I realize she’s dead but she was badass), my Mom and Mother-in-law, Michelle Obama, Tina Fey, Martha Stewart, Beyonce, Pema Chodron. What an amazing collection of women, right?! I would love to go to that dinner party!

IF YOU COULD PICK ONE PERSON TO HAVE DINNER WITH, WHO WOULD IT BE & WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE THEM: Oh speaking of a dinner party… this is hard. One person? To be totally honest, and I’m not just saying this, it would be my Grandma Madore (father’s mother). She passed away over a year ago and I would choose her over anyone else because she has ALWAYS believed in me and supported me (even though she never really had a career and was always family focused – the opposite of me) and I loved listening to her stories and seeing her smile. And I hope I’m not breaking the rules BUT she probably wouldn’t let me cook for her! She would probably make me my favorite French Meat Pies with a side of green beans and Portuguese rolls. Mmmm.

GO-TO MANTRA OR INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”- Eleanor Roosevelt

MESSAGE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH OTHER HEALTHY CHICKS: If I could say two things to all the other Healthy Chicks out there it’s that:

1. Your health and wellness matters. A great deal! Not just so you can look good and fit into your favorite jeans (although that is nice) BUT so you can be the best version of yourself each and everyday! When you prioritize your fitness and wellness (even 10 minutes a day) you will have more energy, focus, drive, determination, strength and confidence for ALL of the other aspects of your life!

2. We’re all busy and that’s okay. It’s okay to have a bustling life that is full of exciting things. BUT what is not okay is continuing to put off your well-being. Your health and wellness deserves to go to the TOP of your to do list!

Finally, with that said, I would LOVE to have you try Grounded Warrior! And because I love the Healthy Chicks community so much I am offering 50% OFF either a monthly membership (just once) OR a Yearly Membership (really great deal). If you are interested sign up using the code HealthyChicks50 (be sure to copy and paste). And best yet, you get 8 Days to try it for FREE! So if you don’t love it after 7 days just let me know. But I bet that you will find it inspiring, motivating and helpful while you focus on fitting in your fitness. Let’s do this!
