Good evening all of my lovely blog readers! Sorry I’m so late with my Friday Favorites post, but I promise I have a good excuse. I’ve been out and about all day perusing my future neighborhood in the North End with my dad, sister and The Boy. Not only did I get to show my younger sister our super sweet new apartment (which she absolutely loved – thanks for trusting me sis!), but we also got to explore the North End. We dined at Bella Vista, browsed the waterfront, trekked to Faneuil Hall, sipped on tasty cappuccinos and gelato and walked our little butts off. It was an incredible day indeed! So yes, that’s why I haven’t been at my computer all afternoon. Oh, and after I checked out my soon-to-be-home (well, not ’til September 1st), I am now home sweet home in Connecticut for the weekend.

As for Friday Favorites, here’s what made my top 5 this week:

1. Chunky Jewelry: Ever since I became a Stylist for Stella & Dot, I’ve been really diggin’ chunky jewelry that makes a statement. Lately, I’ve been rocking an oversized gold & green flower ring and I absolutely love … Read More!

The Boston Marathon and Getting Tingles

I have a confession: Whenever I experience something emotional, I get tingles all over my body. Goosebumps of sorts. Whether it’s from that first magical kiss, running my first half marathon, watching a sappy romantic movie, graduating from college or looking back on old photographs, the feeling is the same. Now, I am quite an emotional gal and I’ll be the first to admit it, so this feeling tends to happen quite often.

This morning, I’ve been having that feeling ever since I woke up and turned on the TV. I’ve been watching the Boston Marathon news, and it’s really been one of the most inspiring things I’ve watched on television in a long time. We’re so used to hearing terrible, TERRIBLE events on the news, so it’s refreshing to wake up to something so amazing, so feel-good.

I mean, c’mon, what’s more inspiring than hearing about thousands of men and women (off all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and paces) run 26.2 miles? Mind you, many of them who are running for a great cause, be it in memory of a loved one they lost to cancer, or a charity they’ve raised thousands of dollars for. These interviews … Read More!

Things are Lookin Up and Friday Faves

Happy Friday to all my lovely readers! How was your week? I’m happy to say that things (aka my mood lately) is looking up…way up. I’m beginning to realize that I am 23 years old and this is the time to enjoy life, rather than stress about things. There is a whole lot of years and stressing ahead of us, after all! When I put it that way, things like minor relationship disagreements and freaking out for not having a “real” job suddenly don’t seem to matter. It’s the important things in life that really matter, eh? When I think of it that way, I remain happy. You should try it. OK, enough of that… on to my Friday Faves!

1. Chai Tea: I’m a coffee drinker, therefore I never really dabble in tea when I go out to a cafe. But since I gave off buying coffee out for Lent, I’ve been thinking (and drinking) out of the box. The other day I had my first Chai Tea latte and it was amazing. I asked for less sugar/more milk and it was the absolute perfect pick-me-up on a rainy day.

2. Hugs: Really, there is nothing … Read More!

Food and Your Mood: What to Eat to Increase Your Sex Drive, Make You Happy and Calm Your Nerves

As I mentioned yesterday, I came home to CT for a cousin’s baby shower. I always love coming home because that means good food…good free food. The key word is FREE. It’s nice to take a break from the tight budgeting for a weekend. Last night my parents and I went over to a good family friend’s house for a home-cooked meal. We had a nice large salad with chives, diced apples and avocado, fresh bread, flank steak with mushrooms & onions, and a side of roasted asparagus.

As expected, while taking my morning pee I noticed that smell (Sorry for the TMI). You know, the smell your pee takes on after eating asparagus. Who knew it’s actually because the ever-so-tasty veggie contains a sulfur-containing compound called methyl mercaptan. And in order for our body to metabolize this very strange compound, it must break them down which in turn leads to the smell. This little incident got me thinking about how different foods affect our moods and actions. I browsed the web and did my research (what I do best), and this is what I came up with. So next time you want to “get in … Read More!

this girl knows how to rock the flower-in-the-hair look

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. I know first hand that sometimes the work week can get kinda stressful (OK, reeallllyyyyy stressful), so let’s take a moment of silence to just breathe. Ahhhh… doesn’t that feel a little better? OK, enough of my corniness, but in all seriousness we need to remember to not take life too seriously and take little moments to just breathe in & out. Well, since it’s Friday you know what that means…time for my Friday favorites. Here goes:

The Stick: This bad boy saved me after my 13.1-mile half marathon on Sunday. In addition to reducing muscle soreness & stiffness (which I had plenty of), it also increases flexibility, improves strength, nurtures your muscles and speeds up recovery time. I recommend all of you ladies who run often to invest in one of these. You can purchase one for just $27.45 on Amazon.com now!

Muenster Cheese: Ever since I ate a Chicken & Muenster cheese sandwich at Serendipity in New York City, I have been daydreaming about muenster. I just HAD to pick some up at Trader Joe’s today … Read More!

Pre Bedtime Thoughts: On Being Mindful

I’ve come to realize the other day that while we are all in very different places in our lives, we have one thing in common: we tend to question ourselves from time to time. I constantly hear women -from strangers on the train to close friends – chatting about their life choices every day. What am I going to be when I “grow up?”…Am I making enough money?…Am I doing what I really want to do? Am I getting the most out of my life? Am I happy in my relationship? Why am I a college graduate without a “real job?” Is this really worth it? When will everything fall into place? Should I go forth with this business decision?

I myself tend to question my life choices…nearly every day. There’s always something on my mind whether it’s regarding my relationship, family, future or lack-there-of a full time job. Yesterday, I shared these feelings with my blogger pal/relationship expert Jen over at Blonde Bronzed Twenty Something, and what she said really stuck. She was explaining to me how she in the process of paying A LOT of hard-earned money on an unfortunate car issue, and that her temp job … Read More!

Hump Day Lesson of the Day: Go Ahead and Drink that Glass of Wine

Read full article | 3 Comments

Seriously. They say a glass of red wine a day is good for you, so go ahead and slurp up my friend. I am a firm believer that a glass of wine can really do the trick when you’re having “one of those days.” It’s just the right amount to get you feeling good, relaxed and maybe even a little bit giddy. I’m not saying to drink the whole bottle, but a glass or two after dinner is perfectly OK in my book. The other night I enjoyed a glass of merlot to relax my body (and sore half-marathon muscles) and it was just what I needed!

If you’re a wine-love like me, then you MUST check out Boston Event Guide’s Spring Wine Fest on Saturday, April 30th. Grab a few of your best friends and enjoy some tasty eats, wine and chit-chat. Really, is there anything better than wine & cheese? Tickets are on sale $49 to $59 until this Friday, so hurry up if you want in!

XoXo,
