My Cappuccino & Gelato Lunch: No Regrets

Confession: I just had a cappuccino paired with a chocolate gelato for lunch. Confession #2: I’m not guilty about it one bit. It was totally worth it. It’s not every day I meet with an old friend in the North End for “lunch,” so I was going to go all out and get what I really wanted. Well, neither of us were feeling lunch, so we told the waiter, “Um, dessert menus please?” Now that’s what I’m talking about. In a cozy cafe packed with people eating chicken parm and pizzas, the two of us were in our own blissful sweet heaven.

The gelato was extra rich and oh so decadent, and the cappuccino was non-comparable to any cappuccino around. The North End is where it’s at. Needless to say, I scraped every last bit of chocolate goodness and slurped up every last drip of coffee. No, I’m not feeling guilty. When you treat yourself to a good meal, there’s no need to feel guilty about it. There’s also no need to say, “F*ck it, I’m going to eat shit the rest of the day now.” Instead, enjoy the moment and move on with it. Don’t obsess about food. Don’t dwell over calories. Don’t think, “I have to workout because I ate_____.” No, no, no! Sometimes it’s nice just to be. Eat, drink and be merry, ya know?

Our bodies can handle yummy treats, and also appreciate fueling up with wholesome goodness like fresh fruits and vegetables. So do your body well! It’s all about balance. And have a happy, tasty delicious Sunday while you’re at it. I know I am. I am feeling extremely happy right now. I caught up with a wonderful friend, enjoyed some delicious desserts, am now in a cafe writing surrounded by North End hotties, and am pumpkin carvin’ tonight. Can life get much better? Nopes.

I also eat dessert as my lunch/dinner every now and then and I am always happy about it (and never ashamed) 🙂 Glad to hear you’re having a fab Sunday!

It’s the best! Now I’ve got my chocolate fix for the day…Thanks Bianca, hope you are having a wonderful day too : )

  3. Rachel Wilkerson Says:

Cappuccino and gelato sounds tres European…and we all know French women don’t get fat!! Seriously, though, I think dessert as a meal once in a while is crucial to living a good life.

  4. healthychicks Says:

I couldn’t agree with you more Rachel : ) Life’s way too short not to eat dessert for a meal!

  5. Jenny Jen Says:

I find that – as soon as I put something unhealthy in my body, like an addict – I go downhill. I tell myself, ‘Well, I already had…so I may as well have…tomorrow is another day.’ But this is a common mistake and I like that you discuss that just because we give into indulgences here and there, we don’t need to let them change our eating patterns for the rest of the day.

Great food for thought (mind the pun.)

I used to do the same Jen! Then I realized, it’s one little choice and in the grand scheme of things it isn’t going to effect me at all. Enjoy what you eat, eat what you want, and then move on with it. The next meal can be a healthy choice…it’s all about balancing, enjoying yourself once in a while and treating your body good (treats included)
