Quotable Sunday: A Little Running Inspiration

This quote has never meant so much to me than it did today. This morning I ran my first half marathon with my sister, cousin, and a friend. We all have different paces and finished at different times, but I couldn’t have been more proud of us! The fact that we finished simply amazes me. And the fact that 10,000 women all of shapes, sizes and backgrounds finished simply blows me away.

I have to say I got a little teary eyed crossing the finish line; not because I was in pain but because I was overwhelmed with so many feelings: those of joy, accomplishment, strength, victory, relief, and euphoria. No matter what time you finished, you get that feeling – the feeling of “I did it. I finished. All by myself.”

What are some feelings you get at the end of a race? I’ll post a more in-depth recap of the half marathon/weekend in NYC tomorrow!

XoXo,

can’t wait to read the full recap! I was talking to krista yesterday- sounds like you guys had an awesome experience and you both had great finish times!! I totally understand the teary-eyedness (yup im pretty sure i just made that up haha) at the end. I get like that too. Especially during this past year at the philly marathon. my aunt was in the hospital dieing of breast cancer and in the last 2 miles of the race when I was tired and ready to get this race over with I thought of her and how much I just wanted to do it for her and started to cry… got me to run faster though. looking forward to your recap!

Thanks so much for the comment and all your tweets / support! I can’t believe it’s finally OVER – all that training paid off : ) It sure is an emotional thing… I like what you said about your grandmother. I’m sure she’d be proud of you, and you were able to use that strength and love to carry you through the rest of the race! We’ll have to all run our next race together : ) Full recap is up by the way!!

Nice job Rachel! I have dreams of someday soon running a half marathon. I’ve had a longstanding knee injury, so until it is better, I will live vicariously through your journey. I could imagine when I finally do complete one that I’ll have the same emotions at the end.

that if you are not willing to…

learn, you are on a short, miserable, dead-end road. it doesn’t matter whether you want blog writing jobs, article writing jobs or wanting to be the next president of the united states, learning is the key! and please don’t get me…
