ZING! Pizza: The Best Darn Gluten Free Pizza There is

[source]

Last night, my parents came to pick me up from Boston. We’re heading down to Baltimore this morning for my sister’s graduation weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! Anyway, they naturally had me pick a good place for dinner. We all agreed we wanted something casual, quick, fun and healthy. So I did what I do best and researched a bunch of restaurants in the area that fit the mold. Once I narrowed it down to three, I let my dad pick because it’s his birthday week. Thankfully he chose my #1 option: ZING! Pizza in Porter Square.

I had only been to ZING! once before for a video shoot while at my old job, so I was super excited to go back and actually taste their pizza. More particularly, their gluten free pizza. But their unique, delicious pizza isn’t the only thing that drew me to this little gem.

It’s the atmosphere and company’s mission that really sold me. Not only do they use fresh, all-natural, mostly organic ingredients, but they are also a super green restaurant, meaning they work hard to recycle, compost and get their ingredients locally whenever they can.

What can I say…I was absolutely lovin’ the vibe from the moment I walked in. The icing on the cake was that Wednesdays also happen to be Gluten-Free Slice Night. I was one lucky duck.

When we walked in, we were completely overwhelmed with their menu options – everything just looked so darn good! I was the easy one, and immediately knew what I wanted: a slice of gluten free Dracula’s Dilemma (garlic spread, mozzarella, caramelized onions, cherry tomatoes, pomegranate molasses, fresh cilantro) and a slice of gluten free Sundance Kid (tomato sauce, mozzarella, turkey sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, caramelized onions & parmesan). My mom got a slice of the thin-crust Dracula’s Dilemma, as well as the Blue October (roasted butternut squash, sauce, baby spinach, mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions & blue cheese). Then lastly my dad and The Boy split a large Capitola (sheep’s milk feta, baby spinach, mozzarella, & roasted red peppers).

As we waited for our pizza to be prepared, we split a few Billy’s Blushing salads (with goat cheese, almonds, beets and greens) topped with a delicious Lemon Soy Dressing, which we loved so much that we actually had the chef come over to tell us how it’s made. (Such a nice staff!) We also got a a few Sarsaparillas and a iced white tea for the table.

Once our pizza arrived, there was nothing but “Mmm’s” coming from the table. We finished everything and I mean everything. Literally lick-your-plate clean. My grandma would be proud. The fave of the table was hands down The Capitola, and I even caught my mom trying to sneak a few slices after she finished her own. I loved my two slices equally in different ways, but the Dracula’s Dilemma takes the cake due to its unique pomegranate molasses spread; I’ve simply never tasted anything like it. We were all happy campers…extremely full happy campers.

Once of the best things about ZING! was their super friendly, attentive staff. One of the girls even sent me out with a whole plate filled with leftover gluten free pizza. I’m so excited to freeze it and enjoy it again for dinner sometime soon!

Thank you so much ZING! for an unforgettable pizza experience! If you haven’t tried ZING! yet I highly recommend it when you’re looking for a tasty, healthy bite in a casual & fun setting. : )
