Tis the Season to Take Care of Yourself { 7 Self-Care Tips for Fall}
Self care is one of my utmost favorite topics. In fact, last week I got to spend the evening with the lovely folks at Suffolk University chatting all about self-care for college students!
After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup. (You gotta fill yours first!) With that said, I wanted to share some of my favorite self-care tips for the fall season so you can start practicing too!
1.) Set your Fall intention: Make it bold. Make it about you. How do you want to FEEL this season?
2.) Journal It Out: Take time to journal, especially in the morning. One of my favorite exercises is morning pages, where you free write and let it out on the page. Don’t try to edit or make it “look” a certain way; just write what’s in your heart.
3.) Let go of Negativity + Clutter: Donate clothes that no longer fit you, store away your summer wear to make room for fall apparel, and remove yourself from relationships + situations that are bringing negativity into your life. It’s time for new beginnings!
4.) Spend time in Nature: Do it, daily. Take a fall foliage hike (while you can!), take a 10-15 minute lunch break by yourself on a park bench, breathe in the fresh air.
5.) Load up on Seasonal, Fall Foods: Take a trip to the farmers market & load up on the seasonal harvest. There are so many delicious crops in season right now like spaghetti squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, apples, pears and pumpkin. Play around with what’s in season + feel free to get creative in the kitchen!
Check out my upcoming fall whole foods detox, starting right after Thanksgiving! You can also load up on warming fall spices like nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon which act as a natural sweet tooth tamer – win, win!
6.) Get Your Beauty Sleep: It’s so incredibly important. And don’t be afraid to take naps either! Give your body the rest it needs.
7.) Put Yourself First: As women, we’re so used to putting everyone else first. It’s time to take yourself off the back burner! Book a trip to the spa, take a warm bath, buy yourself a new book, give yourself a mani-pedi. Do what makes you feel good! One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is with all-natural beauty products. You can make your own sugar scrubs at home with olive oil, raw sugar, and essential oils of your choosing. It’s absolutely divine!
What are your favorite ways to practice self care? Make yourself a priority this week!
