Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Feature: Lisa Paige, PhD + Holistic Tutor

Alrighty, onward to this week’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness community and beyond.

I’m excited to introduce you to fellow SheBreathes member Lisa Paige, who works with teens to lessen their stress while they prepare for the SAT and/or ACT and apply to college. I love that she integrates meditation and journaling for wellness, and teaches communication skills to help parents and teens stay close through that last precious year that the teens are living at home. How cool is that?

DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS/LINE OF WORK: Holistic tutoring, test prep, college admissions

WHERE YOU LIVE: Franklin, MA

HOW YOU SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH YOUR WORK: My practice is geared toward facilitating a healthy journey through the college test prep and admissions process.

NUMBER ONE PASSION OUTSIDE THE JOB: Spending time with my adult children and my fiance

INTENTIONS/GOALS YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS: Build my practice to include a psychotherapist and two more tutors!

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D TELL YOUR CHILDHOOD SELF: You’re great — believe it

THREE FAB THINGS ABOUT YOU: I was once on CBS Morning News as a spokesperson for college alums working toward reduction in on-campus sexual assault; I speak German fluently; I can play Brahms piano Intermezzi.

FAVORITE BODY PART & WHY: My brain. It’s powerful.

I GET MY INSPIRATION FROM: People who speak up and tell the truth. Current heroes: Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren. Lifelong hero: Sophie Scholl.

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Raising three incredible kids

FEMALE LEADER(S) YOU LOOK UP TO: Elizabeth Warren, Diane Feinstein, Jeannette Rankin (she was the first woman in Congress and the only vote against WWI), and the Dixie Chicks even though they’re no longer performing/recording

IF YOU COULD PICK ONE PERSON TO HAVE DINNER WITH, WHO WOULD IT BE & WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE THEM: I would love to meet Iris Murdoch and cook her spaghetti, but she passed away years ago. I wrote my dissertation on her. She was fabulous. My second choice would be Emily Dickinson, and I would bake her cookies.
