Healthy Chicks in the Community Series: Meet Body Confidence Coach & Self-Love Activator Erika Beal

Happy February! It’s that time again for our Healthy Chicks in the Community feature, a monthly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness world and beyond!

I’m honored to spotlight fellow wellness mama Erika Beal. As a Body Confidence Coach and “Self-Love Activator,” she helps women break the diet mindset and make peace with food — and their bodies. When I first met Erika at a Mom Boss event, I was drawn to her purple hair and magnetic personality. She was also unapologetically herself — so very clear on who she is and what she offers. Fun fact: she was also 9 months pregnant!

In this month’s interview, we chat with Erika about finding peace with your body, how she launched her dream career, and why squats are her favorite exercise. (The reason might surprise you!)

GIVE US A SNAPSHOT INTO YOUR BIZ/WHAT YOU DO:

I help women accept and embrace their bodies and discover the confidence they never knew they had. My goal with clients is to break them out of the diet mindset and shift to a more positive view of their body. 

WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE STRUGGLING TO LOVE THEMSELVES/THEIR BODY:

It is totally normal to not love every part of yourself every single day. You are not alone in that and there is nothing wrong with you because of it. Peace comes from learning to accept and respect yourself inside and out so the decisions you make in life don’t come from a place of hate. 

NUMBER ONE PASSION OUTSIDE THE JOB:

Connecting with mission and purpose driven women

INTENTIONS/GOALS YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS:

I will begin hosting mother/daughter body image workshops as well as day long confidence building retreats and workshops within the next year. I also plan to get more into speaking events and getting on stage.

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D TELL YOUR CHILDHOOD SELF:

Do what makes YOU happy. Live your life for you.

FOODS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ALIVE & BRING THE MOST JOY:

Strawberries, watermelon and scones haha

I have purple hair, my calm energy soothes and calms people in my presence, and I never give up.

FAVORITE BODY PART & WHY:

My belly because it carried my two sweet babies.

I GET MY INSPIRATION FROM:

Music, my kids, amazing communities of women I surround myself with

EXERCISE THAT MAKES YOU SHINE:

Squats… I did 150 two hours before my water broke and I went into labor 🙂

SOMETHING IN YOUR “WELLNESS TOOLBOX” YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:

My 40 oz. water bottle that comes with me everywhere!

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

Aside from birthing my babes…winning a video contest and getting full tuition to the health coaching course I had been dying to take but had no idea how to pay for it at the time. It started my career as a coach and my life has become so fulfilling and purposeful since.

IF YOU COULD PICK ONE PERSON TO HAVE DINNER WITH, WHO WOULD IT BE & WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE THEM:

Dr. Bernie Siegel. His stories are insanely inspirational and I could listen to him speak for hours. I would make him salmon and roasted veggies.

MESSAGE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH OTHER HEALTHY CHICKS:

The wellness world can be overwhelming and intimidating, leaving you feeling as if you aren’t doing enough. But you are enough. Just as you are right in this moment. You are enough and you are worthy of a beautiful, abundant, and joyful life.
