Quotable Sunday: A Shout Out to Dad

Happy Father’s day to all you dad’s out there! Not that any dad’s beside my own read this blog, but you know what I mean. ‘Tis the day to celebrate everything our father’s do for us, and in my case that’s an awful lot.

So dad, here is a post dedicated just for you; yup, the #1 guy in my life who has been there from day one when I was a little puny 5-pound babe who you claimed look like E.T. (Ha, thanks dad.)

But in all seriousness, here are a few things I am particularly thankful for this Father’s Day:

1. That you attempted to make me a nasty basketball player when I was a little girl, despite the fact that I had zero patience when you tried to correct my “follow through,” and still loved me even though I (kinda) sucked.

2. That you put up with a family composed of all women. You should really get a gold medal for that.

3. That you motivated me to fall in love with running, and supported me through training for my first half marathon, even though I cried during the first 5K we ran together. You taught … Read More!

This coming week, I’m going to focus very hard on finding harmony and balance in my life. Not over-analyzing everything. Not thinking too much about the future, nor too much about the past. On just going with the flow. I believe that if you let yourself think, do, and say as you please in the moment, you will ultimately find that place of harmony and happiness you’ve been looking for.

What goals have you set for yourself this upcoming week?Read More!

Quotable Sunday: A Lesson from Good Old Dr. Seuss

Good morning everyone! Isn’t it such a lovely day in New England? It felt so nice to walk out of the house this morning in a spring-y dress, boots and light sweater. IT’S ABOUT TIME. I’m heading home now for my cousin’s baby shower. It should be a wonderful day, filled with family, food and fun.

Anywho, this week I’ve been thinking a lot about life, more particularly being in control of your own life. I think sometimes when things get a little crazy, we tend to forget that we have control over our own lives. No one else is in charge but YOU. If you hate your job, you don’t have to stay in it. If you’re not happy with your relationship, you can end it. If you want to pick up Italian again, travel Europe or start playing piano, you have the ability to. Sometimes you just need to remind yourself that YOU are in control, and can go anywhere you want to go. So now a lesson from the ever-so-smart Dr. Seuss:

Hope you all have a great Sunday & enjoy the sunshine!

Quotable Sunday: On Over-Analyzing

I have a confession: I over-analyze things a bit too much. OK, a LOT too much. There aren’t many qualities I don’t like about myself, but this is one I am seriously working to change. After all, over-analyzing is never fun. What did that mean? Where is this going? But what if… If we’re too busy thinking all the damn time, we miss out on enjoying what is right now. Plus, what I’ve come to find true, is many times my over-analytical craziness is usually just a figment of my imagination. Hence, I drive myself crazy for absolutely no reason. And what’s the sense in that?

This week I’m going to try to listen to Tupac and just relax, take it easy and move on with it.

Do you over-analyze things? If so, what helps you to relax and stop thinking 24/7?

Quotable Sunday: On Living in the Moment

The other day, my lovely cousin came to me concerned about getting older, and things changing. I have to admit, this topic gets to me from time to time as well. But what really gets me through the day – and life in general – is living in the moment. I strive to live in the now, take every day as it comes, and not fret about the future. If you put too much stress and thought into what lies ahead, you will never fully be able to enjoy the present…the beautiful, amazing wonderful present.

So that’s what I leave you to think about on this sunny Sunday morning. Enjoy the day…it is all yours.
