Picture Yourself in Spring Recap: Playing Dress Up at Savas Studios

[source]

I have a confession: I have zero sense of fashion. Healthy? Yup. Good in the kitchen? Duh. Exercise freak? You know it. Fashionable? NO. WAY. Maybe it’s because I’m color blind or maybe it’s because I am mostly-unemployed with little money to spend on clothes, but the truth is I don’t know a thing when it comes to fashion advice. Nor makeup and shoes either. I try sometimes, but I’m definitely no expert…at all. That’s why when I was invited to the “Picture Yourself in Spring” Trunk Show and Photo Fashion event that took place last night, I knew I’d be in for a treat.

I walked in to Savas Studios in the North End, and immediately fell in love. The dim lighting was perfection. The staff were as friendly as can be. They made me feel comfortable, rather than intimidated (always a fear) even though the gorgeous girls put my blah outfit to shame. I was immediately taken to the back room – which was absolutely adorable with exposed brick walls – where I was offered wine (3 kinds!), smoked salmon, crackers and mango bean salsa. YUM. The smoked salmon was to die for.

After a bit of chit-chat with the other girls who were at the event (including Kathy from Boston Sports Woman, Meghan from Travel, Wine, and Dine and Kat from Sports Girl Kat), it was dress up time! All of the clothes were from ETCETERA, and the representative Catherine did a phenomenal job fitting everyone. I first tried on a gorgeous multi-colored dress that instantly made me feel warm & fuzzy & spring-y inside. It was gorgeous, and everyone absolutely loved it. I tried on a few other numbers, but the favorite was the last dress* I tried on: an adorable black fitted dress that lay right above the knee. It fit me perfectly, as if the dress were made for me! [*It’s the first dress in this slideshow on the right]

After that, it was time for make up, and by this point I was totally loving all the pampering going on. Since I wear minimal makeup and have no clue what works best, I felt like a princess while getting it applied. They used Arbonne products, and it felt amazing on my skin. I couldn’t believe the transformation when I looked in the mirror: my eyes were piercing and my lips looked ever-so-luscious. Needless to say, the girl knew what she was doing.

Once I was all dolled up, it was time for my PHOTO SHOOT. I felt silly posing at first, but after a bit it felt more natural, and I slowly got a little more confident with it all. They’ll be emailing the photos shortly, so I can’t wait to post some pics! (hehe!)

All in all, I am so happy I took a leap outside my element and was able to make an enjoyable girls’ night out of it!  If only spring could come a little sooner now ’cause let me tell you this year’s spring fashion line is lookin’ gooood. Only 38 DAYS to go!

Are you a fashion queen? A sports fanatic? A chef? A health nut? A tennis player? A makeup artist? A band geek?  Do you ever take time to step outside your element for a little “dress up”?
