5 Realizations: Thoughts of a Twenty-Something

Good morning everyone! Now that I’m finally in Miami after a very long, hectic trip I can finally relax. Ahh it feels good. This is my first time in Miami and I must say I am absolutely loving it so far. I did forget it was also coincidentally Spring Break, so it may be like a little college flash-back for me as well.

Anyway, here are some thoughts I’ve been having these past few days:

1. Some People Never Change: This can be good and bad. In my case, it’s GOOD. I haven’t spent time with my roommate and best friend from college in quite a while, and we were finally reunited last night. It’s always kind of weird to see someone you haven’t seen in months, or even YEARS. Will it be the same? Will things be strange? But some people just never change. The second I saw my friend, we gave each other the biggest bear hug in the world, and then it was as if time hadn’t passed at all from the college days. I can’t believe I graduated college TWO years ago. It’s crazy to think about, but I’m glad that certain friendships will forever be the same. Just like the olden days, as if no time has even passed. I am thankful for that.

2. Peanuts Are Addicting: People say chips are addicting but I must say, salted peanuts are just as bad. I seriously can’t stop eating them ever since I arrived in Miami. Oh well I’ll chalk it up to lots of healthy fat and protein. That is 7 grams of protein per serving, baby! Give in to your cravings…but don’t overdo it.

3. Running Outside is the #1 Mind Clearer: Seriously, if you’ve been having crazy thoughts lately or just need to get some anger out, I suggest you go on a run outside. It doesn’t have to be long, and you don’t need to run like The Roadrunner. Just nice and easy. My mind was all over the place these past two weeks, but ever since I started running outside again, I’ve gotten a taste of clarity and ease. It feels incredible. Give yourself the time to go on a mind-clearing run. You won’t regret it.

4. I’ve Embraced My Thighs, and you should too: If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that my thighs and legs are my “trouble spots” if you will. For many years I refused to wear jeans, and would cover up my legs with shorts while tanning. I sacrificed having a beautiful tan for hiding my thighs in fear of humiliation. I’m proud to say that fear is 90% gone. Yes, I’d like them to be a little bit more trim & tight, but who the hell cares what they look like? I like my body, curves and all and am going to lay out in a bikini today without worrying what, god-for-bit-my thighs look like to some drunk college kids. Embrace your trouble spots. Imperfection is beautiful.

5. I’m Wasting Precious Tanning Time by Sitting on My Computer: It’s time to go, friends. Have a beautiful day!

XoXo,
