Healthy Chicks in the Community Series: Meet Melissa Smith of The Hale Bone Broth

Alrighty, moving onto this month’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness world. If you don’t already know by now, I have a major love affair with bone broth, so I was super pumped to meet master broth maker Melissa of The Hale Bone Broth at a wellness event, serving up her goods.

We naturally hit it off, and I knew she’d be a perfect fir for this series! In this fun interview, we chat about creating meaningful connections, plans to grow the biz and her girl crush on Rachel Hollis. I’ll let Melissa take it away from here!

The Hale is a health and lifestyle brand focused around healthy accountable living that is enjoyed! The Hale Bone Broth is a product that was designed to align with our search for the “HALE Life”.

WHERE YOU LIVE:
Hanover, MA

HOW YOU SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH YOUR WORK:
We love connecting with our Hale tribe and community through educating and healing. We are so inspired by all the stories of restoration and recovery through a healthy lifestyle.

NUMBER ONE PASSION OUTSIDE THE JOB:
I love people and learning about what makes someone special.

INTENTIONS/GOALS YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS:
I want to continue to support and help heal people through connection and healthy habits. I want to see the Hale Bone Broth in health food stores and cafes so people can make better choices when it comes to fueling their bodies with food.

I also want to offer support as a health coach to those who need a better understanding of the full mind/body transformation process. We are so capable of great things. We just sometimes need someone to help get us unstuck!

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D TELL YOUR CHILDHOOD SELF:
You are worth it.

FOODS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ALIVE & BRING THE MOST JOY:
Bone broth. It offers the restoration and repair that my body needs daily.

SONG THAT MOVES YOU:
Anything Bob Marley. His music makes me smile.

THREE FAB THINGS ABOUT YOU:
1) I love to run and have done 5 marathons.
2) I love to cook. It’s like therapy.
3) I was the first person in my family to go to college.

FAVORITE BODY PART & WHY:
My brain. I believe my grit and mindset has gotten me this far.

I GET MY INSPIRATION FROM:
My mother. She was my biggest cheerleader and her strength inspired me to go for it in life.

EXERCISE THAT MAKES YOU SHINE:
Running. Although I love a good boot camp butt kicking class!

SOMETHING IN YOUR “WELLNESS TOOLBOX” YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:
MCT oil. It’s brain food. I love feeling focused. It keeps me sharp.

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:
Having my daughter. She is my best accomplishment ever!

Rachel Hollis is my girl crush and hero! Also Oprah.

IF YOU COULD PICK ONE PERSON TO HAVE DINNER WITH, WHO WOULD IT BE & WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE THEM:
I would pick my mother and I would actually have her make her sauce with me one more time because that was my favorite thing to do on Sunday with her.

Life is so short, we need to be intentional about our bodies and how we show up for ourselves. We need to lean into what makes us sparkle and do more of it!
