Healthy Chicks in the Community Series: Meet HeHe Stewart of Tranquility by HeHe & The Birth Lounge

I don’t know about you, but this time of year has me feeling all warm and cozy inside. It’s time for fuzzy slippers, hearty chili and lazy Football Sundays — and I’m here for it all.

Alrighty, it’s time for this month’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a monthly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness world. This month, we have the pleasure of connecting with HeHe Stewart of Tranqulity by HeHe…and I couldn’t be more excited!

As the creator of The Birth Lounge and The Birth Lounge Podcast, this rockstar empowers women to navigate the woes of pregnancy and “Birth like a Queen” — without fear & anxiety — through her one-of-a-kind maternity concierge services. I’m so grateful there are women like HeHe in the world, as I know firsthand how monumental it is to have support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum journey.

In this inspiring interview, we chat about her evidence-based approach, bridging the gap between healthcare providers and doulas, and why Meghan Markle is her forever #girlcrush.

Don’t miss her FREE live masterclass on 11/6 on how to avoid a cesarean birth. BONUS: The Healthy Chicks tribe gets $5 off their monthly birth lounge membership with code HCLOUNGE

NAME:

HeHe Stewart

DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS/LINE OF WORK:

Maternity Concierge, Birth Services

WHERE YOU LIVE:

Boston, Ma

HOW YOU SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH YOUR WORK:

Tranquility by HeHe helps women avoid birth trauma by providing evidence-based information to navigate pregnancy, prepare for birth, and plan for postpartum.

We provide concierge care to families that are expecting a baby or are transitioning to life with a new tiny human. Our care spans from pregnancy to postpartum and well into your child’s first few years of life (walking, talking, eating solids, potty training).

NUMBER ONE PASSION OUTSIDE THE JOB:

Eating! Sometimes my partner and I just travel to eat. He is an amazing cook, too, so I always get to taste-test his creations.

INTENTIONS/GOALS YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 3 YEARS:

Tranquility by HeHe and The Birth Lounge will be a staple in every birthing person’s home. I hope to also bridge the gap between healthcare providers and professional doulas.

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D TELL YOUR CHILDHOOD SELF:

Pay attention to the signs of the universe. She always has your back.

FOODS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ALIVE & BRING THE MOST JOY:

Avacados! Strawberries! Watermelon! Pasta! Desserts!

SONG THAT MOVES YOU:

Mmmbop, Hanson Brothers; Woman, Ke$ha; Sorry Not Sorry, Demi Lovato; Fancy, Reba McEntire; Birthday, Katy Perry; Callin’ Baton Rouge, Garth Brooks.

THREE FAB THINGS ABOUT YOU:

  1. I danced in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2008
  2. I have a podcast (The Birth Lounge Podcast)
  3. I grew up in a rural town of roughly 2,000 people

FAVORITE BODY PART & WHY:

My mouth — it’s where I store all my feelings. My mouth never lies — my smile, my frown, my shock, my excitement, my pride, my delight — it’s all right there in my mouth.

I GET MY INSPIRATION FROM:

My celebrity inspo is, without a doubt, Meghan Markle, and my personal inspo are the strong women I get to watch bring their babies earthside. Meghan reminds me that you can gently share motherhood with the world and still be a powerhouse female.

My past clients have taught me that even when you think something isn’t possible, think again; you’re ideal birth is a matter of mindset and exploring options. I’m seriously tearing up just thinking of the mind-blowing births I’ve had the privilege to witness and support. Nothing is out of your reach if you want it badly enough and are willing to put in the work.

EXERCISE THAT MAKES YOU SHINE:

Running….to the brewery or a donut shop! (Does that count?) Jokes aside, I love a good yoga sesh that leaves you a bit sore in the morning.

SOMETHING IN YOUR “WELLNESS TOOLBOX” YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:

Sleep and I’m sure there will be plenty of people that disagree that sleep belongs as an answer, but through birth work I have been able to see parents with military level sleep deprivation and it’s not a good situation for anyone involved.

On the opposite end of that, I myself have attended births back-to-back with no sleep and can attest it, too, is not okay. When I need a reset or I feel my body begging for a break, sleep is always the answer for me.

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT:

Building a community of women who wish to make informed and consented decisions about their bodies and their expectations to take back control of their birth experiences. Research suggests that as high as 70% of women will walk away from their births with some sort of trauma. I believe a lot of this is avoidable and I’m so proud and honored to be able to support women in changing their future.

FEMALE LEADER(S) YOU LOOK UP TO:

Can I say Meghan Markle again? I also absolutely love Kristen Bell. She is using her platform in a similar fashion to share motherhood. I also wouldn’t be where I am today without the courage of January Harshe and the wisdom of Gabby Bernstein.

IF YOU COULD PICK ONE PERSON TO HAVE DINNER WITH, WHO WOULD IT BE & WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE THEM:

I won’t say Meghan Markle even though we all know that’s my real answer. I would love to chat with Betty White. Her energy is contagious and her confidence is infectious. I think I would just laugh the entire time which is one of my favorite things to do (laugh).

GO-TO MANTRA OR INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE:

“I get to choose. And, I can choose again if I need to.”

MESSAGE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH OTHER HEALTHY CHICKS:

Birth Trauma doesn’t have to be part of your story. If you already have birth trauma, you can break that cycle. I believe in you and I know your ideal birth is within reach. Trust yourself to know what you want and then find a team that will support you in achieving your goals.
