How Do You Want to Feel in 2020? Here’s My Word!

In the midst of everyone talking about New Year’s resolutions, goals and accomplishments, I’m much more concerned about how you want to feel, and just as importantly — why?

In fact, before you even think about crafting your vision board or vowing to go to the gym X times a week, I think it’s crucial to get crystal clear on how you want to feel first.

For me, 2019 was all about living in the flow. Here’s what I posted on my instagram last January:

“This year, my intention is for things to flow more freely — money, new friendships, this beautiful life as a new mama. Yes, there will be work to do (because #GirlBoss) but things don’t have to be ‘hard.'”

Reflecting back on my past year, I’d say I definitely felt in the flow. Things felt easier, I didn’t try so darn hard and I was happy with a simpler life. That doesn’t mean it was boring; I simply embraced a life without the hustle.

Some highlights from the year included seeing Fleetwood Mac live in concert, celebrating my 5 year anniversary with hubby, moving back to Connecticut to be closer to family (and living with my family), expanding Spark Your Bliss into retail shops, and experiencing so many firsts with our little girl — including her first steps, words, swim, camping trip and, of course, her first birthday.

Now that we’re stepping into 2020 – a whole freakin’ new decade — I’ve been spending some time reflecting on what energy I want to bring into the new year.

After some much needed quiet time, I finally got clear on my word for 2020: rooted.

I want to feel rooted in all areas of my life — my career, my home, my relationships. For me, rooted means getting grounded, establishing myself and continuing to plant seeds and grow.

Now that I’m clear about how I want to feel, it’s easier to visualize what that will look like for me. 2020 will be a year of further establishing myself as a wellness writer and entrepreneur, deepening my relationships (and prioritizing regular date nights/meet-ups with close friends), and the year our family plants our roots and buys our first home together.

I’m excited to see what the year brings, and wish you all continued love, health and abundance! What’s your word for 2020?
