Healthy Chicks in the Community Series: Meet Personal Development Trainer Nicole Marie Finch

Happy November, beauties! The start of a new month is my favorite time to reflect on my intentions for the month ahead — both personal and business-related. Each month, I write down what I’m grateful for, set some intentions for myself and map out how I’m going to get there. I also pull some affirmation cards to better align with my feelings and how I want to show up in the world. (You can read all about my new month ritual over here.)

Anyway, I am thrilled to bring back Healthy Chicks in the Community, a monthly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness world & beyond. Today we’re chatting with the lovely Nicole Marie Finch, whose mission is teaching burnt out individuals how to reconnect with their minds’ power in a way that actually works for them. We could all use a little of that, am I right?

In this insightful interview, Nicole talks about the launch of her first book, how to reconnect with your true self, and her obsession with the sweetgreen Harvest Bowl. (Fun fact: I named this bowl back when I worked on the marketing team!)

WEEKLY HEALTHY CHICKS IN THE COMMUNITY FEATURE: Meet SHAY OF IMPACT Boston

It’s been a while, but I’m excited to bring back the Healthy Chicks in the Community series, highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness community! This week’s feature, Shay, is a role model for many young women, working as a self-defense instructor for IMPACT Boston.

Through her impactful work, she’s able to empower students to find their voice and defend themselves in the real world. I’ll let Shay take it from here!

DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS/LINE OF WORK: I’m a self-defense instructor with IMPACT Boston (although my actual title is Program Coordinator). We’re an abuse prevention nonprofit dedicated to teaching self-defense by giving students the opportunity to practice physical and verbal skills in realistic scenarios. I coach the students through the scenarios while my coworker, the “suited instructor,” plays a character who might be anyone from a stranger to a coercive dating partner. We teach empowerment self-defense, which means that our approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and anti-victim blaming.

I’ve been working here for almost a year and I’m in love with it. I get to help people get to a place where they can walk or wheel through the world without (or at least with less) … Read More!

Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Feature: Christian Robinson Cady of Eastern Therapeutics

Good morning beauties! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out my blog post yesterday on celebrating women. I believe this is something that shouldn’t just be reserved for International Women’s Day, but part of our everyday lives.

Speaking of celebrating women, I’m super excited to celebrate this week’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness community. I met Christie of Eastern Therapeutics when I started going for acupuncture for thyroid issues and fertility. She’s so knowledgable and will tell you like it is, while also being super gentle and empathetic. She’s truly the perfect package!

After I had a miscarriage in July, my body felt totally out of whack so I went to see Christie for some juicy acu focused on nourishing and rebalancing my body, but I’ve also gone to build blood (important for getting pregnant), re-energize and even help some funky digestive stuff/breakouts. The space (a 1920’s house which is actually Christie’s childhood home) is cozy, welcoming and absolutely beautiful.

I’ll let Christie take the floor from here!

Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Series: Devin Strickler of Love, Light & Legacy

Good morning, beauties and happy Friday! We’ve got lots of juicy articles up on the blog lately including my First Trimester Recap and 6 Morning Sickness Relief Must-Haves. I am now about to enter the Second Trimester and can’t believer how quickly time is flying.

Alrighty, onto this weeks feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness world.

I “met” Devin of Love, Light and Legacy on instagram during a live tarot card reading she was doing with her brand new Tarot Fauna deck. Lucky me got a reading, and it was SPOT ON. It was right after I found out I was pregnant, and Devin pulled the “Wheel of Fortune” hawk card for me, symbolizing faith, destiny and a turn of events in one’s favor. After trying to have a baby for a year with her son (similar to my story), his spirit animal is actually the hawk so this card holds a special meaning for her family. MIND. BLOWN.

Needless to say, Devin and I connected afterward and are now scheming some exciting partnerships for her tribe. (Hint: I’ll be offering mini health … Read More!

Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Feature: Meet Kristin Thomas of Thrive By Food

Good morning ladies, and Happy Friday! Thank you so much for the love on my pregnancy announcement — the messages coming through via email and social media have touched me deeply and I’ve been so emotional this week (in a good way).

Moving on to this week’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar girl bosses doing their thang in the wellness industry! As you know, I’m a huge fan of functional medicine — that is a more holistic way of looking at health by helping patients get to the root cause. That’s why I couldn’t be more thrilled to feature Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (say that five times fast) Kristin Thomas of Thrive by Food. I love her Whole Foods based philosophy, knowing that good health begins with a healthy gut.

Heads up: She offers several juicy free guides and is currently offering 50% off her 4-week Restore Your Gut Program through 2/28, which if you ask me is a total steal! Alrighty, I’ll let Kristin take over from here as she’s got lots of golden nuggets of wisdom to share with you.

Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Feature: Meet Holly Bellebuono

Happy 2018, friends! I’ve been hanging low these past two weeks in hibernation mode, as my focus this month is slowing down, meditation and nourishment. As someone who likes to get sh*t done, it’s been a valuable lesson in patience and listening to my body.

As you approach the New Year, I encourage you to take a step back and think about how it is you want to feel. Say goodbye to New Year’s resolutions, and get real with what it is you truly want to manifest for yourself this year. How do you want to show up in the world? How do you want to express yourself creatively? What kind of people do you want to connect with? After all, your vibe attracts your tribe.

Speaking of tribe, I love surrounding myself with soulful woman who aren’t afraid to show up in the world as they are! I’m overjoyed to feature the lovely Holly Bellebuono for this week’s Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar woman doing their thang in the wellness world.

I especially adore Holly’s concept of “womanifesting” your business, that is thinking about how we women unleash our creativity and … Read More!

Happy Friday, beauties! I am super excited, as I’m jetting off early this afternoon to head to NYC for The W.E.L.L. Summit. You can keep up with my adventures on my Instagram stories throughout the weekend, as I’m sure I’ll have lots to learn and share.

Alright, it’s time for this week’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar Girl Bosses doing their thang in the wellness community. This week’s special guest Kristen Cillo has her own super rad podcast The Everyday Woman, spotlighting real stories from women, for women. I was honored to be interviewed in Episode #41 The Power of Positivity and Affirmations which you can catch here.

Aside from her podcast, Kristen is a fabulous health coaching mom of three, whose focus in on helping women let go of the diet mentality. Since we have so much in common, her and I are actually teaming up to offer you all a month-long Healthy Holiday Support Group for women, starting November 27! Weekly Healthy Chicks in the Community Feature: Elisa Haggarty of Culinary Farmacy

Happy Friday, loves! Don’t forget to check out Wednesday’s post on incorporating bone broth into your diet, including a discount from local Boston company Five Way Foods.

Speaking of nourishing food, that brings me to this week’s feature on Healthy Chicks in the Community, a weekly series highlighting rockstar women doing their thang in the wellness community.

As I’ve mentioned before, when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s I started working with Parsley Health, a high-tech medical practice dedicated to putting the patient first and helping you discover your root cause. Once you sign up for a membership, you’re paired with a Functional Medicine Doctor as well as a health coach.

Lucky for me, I was paired with Elisa Haggarty of Culinary Farmacy who — you guessed it — is this week’s Healthy Chick. I absolutely love Elisa’s whole foods approach to wellness, as she “prescribes” nourishing real food before medication or unnecessary supplements. In a world that I feel is overmedicated and on every pricy supplement in the book (yes, some are necessary), I think it’s refreshing to go back to the basics and use food to help the body heal.

Elisa has taught me so many nuggets … Read More!
