Friday Thoughts: On Kindness, Curves, Herbs and Getaways!
Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous week. Since it’s Friday, I’m here to share some favorites from the week, since as you know I always have something new I’m absolutely lovin’. Here’s what made the cut this week:
Nice People: Seriously. I’ve come to the conclusion that there just aren’t enough nice, truly genuine good-hearted people in the world. Some random stranger screamed at me the other day for getting on the T before he got off. I didn’t see him, so I quickly apologized and stepped off of the train so he could exit. But that still wasn’t enough. “What is your problem? PEOPLE GET OFF FIRST.” “I’m sorry sir, I know… I just didn’t see you.” “NO, I said PEOPLE first.” He gave me a death stare. Ouch. I’m sick of the ‘tude people.
That’s why when I come across nice people (i.e. the nice man who started talking to me about my blog on the train the other day or the funny guy at Trader Joe’s or my neighbor who made me smile by sending a simply text), I truly cherish it. Nice people out there: keep up the good work!
My Curves: Ever since I started training for my Half Marathon, people keep saying, “Gosh, you must be so skinny!” or “Have you lost any weight?” The answer is “no” to both. However, I’ve gained muscle and have never felt better about the way my body looks and feels. The truth is I know longer want to be “skinny” (that was a long lost college dream). Now I want to be fit, toned, and curvy. I like that I’m not all bones, and actually have some meat on my body. I’m an athlete. I’m a woman. I’m curvy. And I love it.
Parsley: I used to under-rate this particular herb X 10000. I never realized how much a little parsley can do for a dish! I bought a fresh bundle of it at the grocery store the other day, and simply can’t get enough of it. I add to it my salads, my omelets, and my pasta dishes. It’s so versatile. Plus it’s great for your digestion! WOO HOO.
Weekend Getaways: I am so in love with the condo my family recently purchased in New Hampshire. It’s a Time Share, so we get it for one week each month. It’s the perfect getaway, and keeps our family together. We’ve had a tough past year with several deaths in the family and hard times, so this condo makes me so happy. Best part? My dad’s brother owns the condo right next door to us, so we always have a bunch of family up there whenever we go up! It’s also a great way to escape from reality for a little while. We all need that sometimes.
What are you loving this week? Please share!

I love what you said about your half training and the curves you’ve gained…and not the weight you’ve lost. It’s totally the right way to think about it, and totally awesome that you are feeling strong and athletic! Awesome!!

Thanks Jess. I’ve never felt better and for once it’s not about weight/ calories/ any of that crap. It’s all about the way I FEEL …and that is amazing! Love all your comments Jess!

* You inherited the curves!! I have curves, they stay with me whether I’m skinny or heavy. It is genetic… 😉

* Maybe that “random stranger” had suffered a death in his family, or just lost his job. We shouldn’t be so quick to judge the “random strangers” we encounter in our lives. 🙂
